The Prophet’s Unwelcome Word

Luke 4:14-21

God’s family gets bigger and bigger and bigger, not smaller and smaller and more divisive. And so Church, it's a difficult word to remember that our hearts have to expand and not to contract. When everything around us says "no", fear-based scarcity mentality, pull it inward, God says "give it all away and extend yourself" because as you extend yourself on behaf of the poor and the needy and the wanderer, your light will rise like the sun and you will be like a well-watered garden.‘
